At TechEd North America 2013, Microsoft Corp. introduced a portfolio of new solutions to help businesses thrive in the era of cloud computing and connected devices. In the keynote address, Server & Tools Corporate Vice President Brad Anderson and fellow executives showcased how new offerings across client, datacenter infrastructure, public cloud and application development help deliver the most comprehensive, connected enterprise platform.
“The products and services introduced today illustrate how Microsoft is the company that businesses can bet on as they embrace cloud computing, deliver critical applications, and empower employee productivity in new and exciting ways,” Anderson said. “Only Microsoft connects the dots for the enterprise from ‘client to cloud.’”
This week the Solution Accelerator Team announced the Beta version of Microsoft Assessment and Planning 8.5 (MAP) Toolkit. This new version of the Microsoft® Assessment and Planning (MAP) Toolkit provides agentless discovery, inventory and assessment for a variety of scenarios. Some of the key features in this release are:
This latest version of MAP adds new scenarios to help plan your environment with agility while lowering the cost of delivering IT. Included in MAP 8.5 are hardware and infrastructure readiness assessments to assist you in planning the deployment of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, preparing your migration to Windows Azure Virtual Machines, readying your environment for Office 2013 and Office 365, and tracking your usage of Windows Server, Lync, SharePoint, and Exchange.
In the past months I was glad to had the opportunity to accompany a number of customers with a Windows Intune proof of concept, primarily focused on the Mobile Device Management features introduced by Wave-D of Windows Intune.
The Proof-of-Concept’s (PoC) for Windows Intune showcase the benefits and features of using the Windows Intune service to manage mobile devices in IT environment through the cloud or in a hybrid scenario.
During the POC we had a challenge how to introduce selective synchronization of user objects between on-premise Active Directory and Windows Azure Active Directory. This to achieve to synchronize only those user accounts which are Windows Intune ‘enabled’.

Today is an exciting day for Microsoft as Windows Azure Infrastructure Services is announced general available. The announcement is a significant step in Microsoft’s cloud computing strategy, which has been influenced directly by discussions with customers and partners around the world. What is Windows Azure?
The Windows Azure is an internet-scale cloud services platform hosted in Microsoft data centers, which provides an operating system and a set of developer services that can be used individually or together. Windows Azure’s flexible and interoperable platform can be used to build new applications to run from the cloud or enhance existing applications with cloud-based capabilities.

This week Microsoft Management Summit (MMS) 2013 officially launched and brings together the brightest IT professionals from around the world to increase their technical expertise through an intensive week of training led by experts in desktop, device management, datacenter, and cloud technologies.
Keynote, Cloud Optimize Your Business with Microsoft Management Solutions
Brad Anderson, corporate vice president in Microsoft’s Windows Server and System Center Group, took the stage this morning to kick-off the Microsoft Management Summit in Las Vegas. Anderson’s keynote to more than 5,000 attendees highlighted the company’s Cloud OS strategy and how IT professionals can use Microsoft technologies to transform their datacenters.
The keynote, which included live demos, will be available on Channel 9 for on-demand viewing. Anderson also posted to the Official Microsoft Blog today.
Microsoft announced Windows Azure Virtual Network and Windows Azure Virtual Machines in June 2012 to provide IaaS ‘Hybrid Cloud’ functionality.
What this allows is persistent Virtual Machines (which retain the same private addresses) running in Azure that can be joined to your on-premise Active Directory using a site-to-site IPsec VPN. The Azure VMs then act like a branch network with full connectivity and you can add Domain Controllers in the Azure Virtual Network.
